When the time comes to shop for a new vehicle, the first thing to consider is what body style it should have – sedan, hatchback, SUV, truck or minivan. While all have their pros and cons, if you need a vehicle that first and foremost offers space for passenger and cargo, then an SUV may be a smart choice. One SUV that delivers lots of room to shuttle around people and cargo is the 2017 Buick Enclave – a three-row SUV that doesn’t just serve utilitarian purposes, but also provides an overall pleasant experience on the road. If you’re considering an SUV but are still on the fence, here are some reasons why a full-size SUV, like the 2017 Buick Enclave, is a smart choice.

Three Feature-Filled Trims

There are many SUVs out there, but you may notice that many offer the space you seek, but not much else. With a luxury car brand like Buick, though, you can bet that their SUVs offer much more than the bare minimum. The 2017 Buick Enclave is definitely a top choice if you’re looking for upscale content, and it proves this with its 2017 lineup that boasts three extravagant trims.

The most basic Enclave up for grabs is the Convenience trim. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, its engine is remote-start, and it shines automatic xenon headlights. It also includes:

Tri-zone climate control8-way power driver seat2-way power front passenger seatAuto-dimming rearview mirror

As with all Buicks, technology starts off with a serious bang at the base-level trim. It features:

OnStar telematics with 4G LTE and onboard WiFi hotspotBluetooth phone and audio connectivityRearview camera6.5″ touchscreen displayIntelliLink interface with voice controls and smartphone radio app integrationDual USB ports6-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio input jack, USB audio interface and satellite radio

Are you a middle-of-the-road type of person? If so, the Buick’s Leather trim is the perfect choice. Tacking on to the number of great equipment and features found in the Convenience trim, the Leather model includes some nice bonus items, such as:

Leather upholsteryHeated front seats8-way power front passenger seatHeated steering wheelDriver memory settingsBlind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert

For the most lavish trim, the obvious choice is the Enclave’s top-level Premium, which gains power-folding and auto-dimming mirrors, a power-adjustable steering column, navigation system, and 10-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system. It also includes a number of advanced safety systems which we will touch on in the next section.

Solid Safety and Protection

Every time you get behind the wheel of a car, you expect it to keep you, and your passengers, safe. With solid safety equipment and advanced safety systems, along with excellent crash-test scores, it’s hard to beat an SUV like the 2017 Buick Enclave.

All trim levels are equipped with the same standard list of safety gear – antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, rear parking sensors and rearview camera. Also standard in all Enclave trims is a large airbag that deploys between the front seats and is designed to protect occupants from colliding with one another during a side-impact collision.

The OnStar emergency telematics system is standard in the Enclave, too, equipping it with:

Automatic crash notificationOn-demand road-side assistEmergency buttonStolen vehicle locator and active interventionRemote door unlock

If you’re like many car shoppers, you want your new vehicle to protect you with all of the latest and great advanced safety systems. While both the Enclave’s Leather and Premium trims include rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot warning system, the Premium trim also includes a forward-collision alert and lane-departure warning system.

Space for Passengers and Cargo

As we discussed earlier, if you are in need of space for passengers and cargo then the 2017 Buick Enclave is a leading choice in the full-size SUV segment. First and second-row occupants are provided abundant head- and legroom, and even the third row offers decent space for teens and small adults. The Enclave can be made to suit your needs, too, which scores it even more points in greatness. All Enclave models come standard with second-row captain’s chairs which allows for a capacity of seven passengers. But if you want to bump seating to eight, Buick will replace second-row Captain’s chairs with a third-row bench seat when you choose the Leather or Premium trims.

What about cargo space? The Enclave’s roominess extends to its cargo hold providing a cavernous space that’s perfect for hauling awkward and bulky items.
