When the time comes to shop for a new vehicle, the first thing to consider is what body style it should have – sedan, hatchback, SUV, truck or minivan. While all have their pros and cons, if you need a vehicle that first and foremost offers space for passenger and cargo, then an SUV may be a smart choice. One SUV that delivers lots of room to shuttle around people and cargo is the 2017 Buick Enclave – a three-row SUV that doesn’t just serve utilitarian purposes, but also provides an overall pleasant experience on the road. If you’re considering an SUV but are still on the fence, here are some reasons why a full-size SUV, like the 2017 Buick Enclave, is a smart choice.
Three Feature-Filled Trims
There are many SUVs out there, but you may notice that many offer the space you seek, but not much else. With a luxury car brand like Buick, though, you can bet that their SUVs offer much more than the bare minimum. The 2017 Buick Enclave is definitely a top choice if you’re looking for upscale content, and it proves this with its 2017 lineup that boasts three extravagant trims.
The most basic Enclave up for grabs is the Convenience trim. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, its engine is remote-start, and it shines automatic xenon headlights. It also includes:
Tri-zone climate control8-way power driver seat2-way power front passenger seatAuto-dimming rearview mirror
As with all Buicks, technology starts off with a serious bang at the base-level trim. It features:
OnStar telematics with 4G LTE and onboard WiFi hotspotBluetooth phone and audio connectivityRearview camera6.5″ touchscreen displayIntelliLink interface with voice controls and smartphone radio app integrationDual USB ports6-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio input jack, USB audio interface and satellite radio
Are you a middle-of-the-road type of person? If so, the Buick’s Leather trim is the perfect choice. Tacking on to the number of great equipment and features found in the Convenience trim, the Leather model includes some nice bonus items, such as:
Leather upholsteryHeated front seats8-way power front passenger seatHeated steering wheelDriver memory settingsBlind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert
For the most lavish trim, the obvious choice is the Enclave’s top-level Premium, which gains power-folding and auto-dimming mirrors, a power-adjustable steering column, navigation system, and 10-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system. It also includes a number of advanced safety systems which we will touch on in the next section.
Solid Safety and Protection
Every time you get behind the wheel of a car, you expect it to keep you, and your passengers, safe. With solid safety equipment and advanced safety systems, along with excellent crash-test scores, it’s hard to beat an SUV like the 2017 Buick Enclave.
All trim levels are equipped with the same standard list of safety gear – antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, rear parking sensors and rearview camera. Also standard in all Enclave trims is a large airbag that deploys between the front seats and is designed to protect occupants from colliding with one another during a side-impact collision.
The OnStar emergency telematics system is standard in the Enclave, too, equipping it with:
Automatic crash notificationOn-demand road-side assistEmergency buttonStolen vehicle locator and active interventionRemote door unlock
If you’re like many car shoppers, you want your new vehicle to protect you with all of the latest and great advanced safety systems. While both the Enclave’s Leather and Premium trims include rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot warning system, the Premium trim also includes a forward-collision alert and lane-departure warning system.
Space for Passengers and Cargo
As we discussed earlier, if you are in need of space for passengers and cargo then the 2017 Buick Enclave is a leading choice in the full-size SUV segment. First and second-row occupants are provided abundant head- and legroom, and even the third row offers decent space for teens and small adults. The Enclave can be made to suit your needs, too, which scores it even more points in greatness. All Enclave models come standard with second-row captain’s chairs which allows for a capacity of seven passengers. But if you want to bump seating to eight, Buick will replace second-row Captain’s chairs with a third-row bench seat when you choose the Leather or Premium trims.
What about cargo space? The Enclave’s roominess extends to its cargo hold providing a cavernous space that’s perfect for hauling awkward and bulky items.

Get Your Truck Off-Road Ready with These Tips

Have plans etched out for a road trip? Yo may think an SUV is the ideal choice for the journey ahead, but there are many reasons why you may want to consider opting for a truck. Take the latest 2017 GMC Canyon as an example. The Canyon is a midsize truck that delivers a smooth and comfortable ride, strong engine power, and plenty of tech features to pamper and entertain everyone along for the ride. Plus, with its nice bed sizes in back, you can take all the cargo you need for wherever the road takes you. Now that yo know what you should drive, these are some things you should do prior to your road trip in order to ensure your truck will run smoothly and efficiently while on the road.
Check Fluids
For your truck to run as it should, it contains a number of essential fluids. So before hitting the road, you should check all fluid levels to make sure they are at the appropriate level. Some fluids include: oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and power-steering fluid. Doing this prior to your journey will not only tell you if you need to top off any fluids that may be low, but it is also a good way to know if there are any leaks that should be fixed.
Check Tire Pressure
Your tires are the number one safety system on your truck. This is why it is vital to have them checked for the correct air pressure before venturing out on any road trips. Tires that have the incorrect air pressure are subject to a number of problems, such as an increased risk of blowouts and flats. They also decrease fuel economy, and if you’re planning on spending many hours, even days, on the road, you’ll want the best fuel economy possible.
While you’re checking the air pressure of your truck’s four main tires, don’t forget to also check the spare – an essential tire to have at all times, but especially when traveling for extended amounts of time.
Check Tire Treads
Along with checking your truck’s tires for proper air pressure, you should also inspect their treads. Because treads are designed to help your tires grip the road, they go hand-in-hand with on-road safety. When treads are poor, they are unable to do their job which can lead to dangerous situations, like sliding, skidding and hydroplaning. This is especially true in bad weather, like heavy rains, ice and snow. Before heading out on the road, inspect the treads on all tires, including the spare to ensure safety on the drive ahead.
Change OilMore than likely, you’ve been told countless times that the key to a healthy vehicle is to regularly change its oil – and we agree. During extended trips where your engine is forced to run for long periods of time, you want to make sure it will be able to do the job. Changing the oil prior to your trip is an excellent way to ensure that it will. Why exactly? There are two main reasons:
1. Oil helps draw heat away from the engine so it will not overheat.2. Oil lubricates internal engine parts to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently.
Replace Air Filter
Another way to help your truck’s engine survive a road trip is by ensuring it has a continuous supply of clean air. To do this, you should replace your engine’s air filter. The air filter works by catching all external junk like dirt, leaves, bugs and trash in order to stop it from being pulled into the engine. When an air filter does its job, your engine is left with clean air – an element that allows it to perform its best. But when an air filter is old and dirty, it cannot do its job – a problem that leads to your engine’s air supply being restricted. This can cause problems like overheating and serious engine damage. Your best bet it to have your engine’s air filter replaced when you take your truck in for an oil change. This way you can knock out two birds with one stone.

Most Common Errors Made While Driving in Snow

During the months of winter, temperatures drop, wind increases, and there’s a pretty good chance of waking up to the world covered in a blanket of white snow. Snow can be pretty to look at, even fun to play in, but it can lead to dangerous situations when driving. Sure, driving a new SUV, like the 2017 GMC Acadia Limited, comes with many advanced safety features – frontal-collision warning, lane-departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert to name a few. And it can even be equipped with snow tires for increased traction on winter roads. But with all of the mistakes drivers make behind the wheel, tools and equipments, like these can only increase safety so much. So what mistakes are you making that are putting you at risk of danger when driving in snowy conditions? Here’s a look at the most common errors you may be making.
Not Being Prepared
Even if you have driven in snow a million times, those first few times you drive in it each winter can be tricky. This is because you are out of the swing of the extra precautions required. Another reason is because you are not prepared. While you may have to remaster your snow-driving techniques, one thing you can do to be prepared for driving in snow is to ensure your car is ready for the weather ahead. The best ways to prep your car for winter include checking tire treads, antifreeze levels, and battery power, and also making sure the defroster and rear window defogger work. You can also prepare for winter roads by keeping a bag of sand or cat litter in your car for extra traction if your tires are stuck in slipper snow.
Following Too Closely
Another mistake drivers make is following too closely to other cars. While this is dangerous in good weather conditions, it is even more dangerous in snowy conditions. Driving too closely reduces your reaction time if there’s a problem with the vehicle ahead of you and you need to sow down suddenly. For better safety when driving in winter weather, you should double – even triple – the normal distance between yo and the car ahead of you.
Slamming on Brakes
A sudden slip of your car’s tires and the first instinct you have is to slam on the brakes. Unfortunately, this is actually the opposite of what you should do. Instead of helping your tires gain traction in a slippery situation, traction is actually decreased. This causes your wheels to lock up and the ability to control your car to vanish. Instead of slamming on the brakes, here’s what you should do. When you feel your tires begin to skid, ease off the accelerator and let your car slow down on its own. Moving tires are still able to provide some traction with the road, which is what you need to be able to steer yourself out of a collision.
Speeding
One of the biggest errors made when driving in snow is speeding – especially on the highway. Driving too fast reduces the amount of time yo have to react to on-road situations. It also increases the severity of a collision. When braking on icy or snow roads, it takes up to 10 times longer to stop than it does on roads that are dry. This being said, you should reduce your speed when temperatures are near freezing and snow begins to fall.
Expecting Too Much From Four-Wheel Drive
Vehicles that come with four-wheel drive typically perform better when driving in snowy and icy driving conditions. But don’t let this lead you into believing it will make you invincible on winter roads. Four-wheel drive is used to send a certain amount of torque to each of your car’s tires in order to provide them with extra traction to move through snowy roads. But four-wheel drive will not provide the traction your tires need to brake your car – a key element of safe driving.

The GMC Yukon is known for its huge cargo space, ability to tote up to nine passengers, and serious capabilities when towing and on off-road trails. But for 2017, the Yukon has gotten even better, with some new additions. It now features low-speed automatic braking paired to a forward-collision warning system and a teen-driver management system, both increasing safety. It also comes with ventilated seats, an updated rear entertainment system, and a head-up display in its top Denali trim. While the 2017 GMC Yukon comes with many great traits, there is one downside to driving such a large SUV – decreased visibility. Luckily, there are ways to increase visibility while behind the wheel. Continue reading to learn the top ways to improve visibility while driving.
Adjust Your Blind Spot
When inside a vehicle, you are faced with a number of blind spots. But there are ways to eliminate them so visibility isn’t an issue. All you have to do is correct the angle of your mirrors. Your side mirrors should be set out 15 degrees. Starting with the left side, lean your head so that it’s even with the driver’s side window. Then, adjust the mirrors so you are able to see the side of your car. For your right-side mirror on the right side, do the same thing, but keep your head in the center of your car while adjusting. Once you have adjusted your mirrors, blind spots should be completely removed.
Use Your Rearview Camera
New cars, like the 2017 GMC Yukon, come with a rearview camera to help make backing up easier – and safer. In an SUV that’s as large as the Yukon, a rearview camera will be an essential safety tool for you. This handy camera will remove any concerns that your quick exit out of your garage or parking space will end in a collision with another car or person.
Use Parking Sensors
Like rearview backup cameras, parking sensors are another great tool for easier, damage-free parking. For frustratingly small parking spots, navigating a large SUV, like the Yukon, can be quite difficult. But, with the help of parking sensors, you will be provided an audible guide to get you parked safely, and ding-free.
Clear all windows
Having your windows clear is key to good visibility behind the wheel. To do this, remove things like hangings bags of dry cleaning and sunshades. If items are unable to be removed prior to driving, be sure to adjust your mirrors so you are able to see around them.

In the market for a new car? What about a compact luxury sedan that’s comfortable and composed on the road, comes with a lengthy list of features, and boasts top scores in safety? Sounds nice, right? All of these elements make up the Buick Verano that has a fresh lineup on the market for 2017. While the Verano is an excellent choice for your next automotive purchase, it is still a vehicle, and just like every vehicle, it will require maintenance to keep it in tip-top shape. One maintenance service your Buick Verano will need to have performed on a regular basis is oil changes. As you probably already know, oil changes are one of the most important automotive maintenance services there is. This is because oil is crucial to your car’s engine, its purpose being to lubricate all engine parts so they work smoothly and efficiently. It also helps draw heat away from the engine so it will not overheat.
To get your car’s oil changed, you can easily take it to a local oil change station. But, if you’d like to save some cash and don’t mind the DIY approach, you can also change your car’s oil yourself. Don’t know how? No problem! Just follow the guide below for step-by-step instructions. And don’t worry, it will be a lot easier than you think!
1. Gather tools/equipment
The first step in changing your oil is to gather the necessary tools and equipment in order to perform the job quickly and correctly. Here’s what you’ll need:
Oil filterOil-filter wrenchStandard wrenchOld towels/ragsOil pan/containerWheel ramp/blocks
2. Warm up your engine
Once you have all of the necessary tools and equipment, the next step is to warm up your engine. So start your ignition and let it run for about ten minutes, then turn it off. Doing this will allow sludge to move out of the engine easier when you drain the old oil in a future step.
3. Raise car
To change your oil, you will need to be able to get beneath your car. This will require you to raise your car so there is enough room for you to lie underneath. To do this, you will need blocks or a ramp. Once your car is raised and in place, be sure to set the parking brake. This is a crucial step, so don’t skip it!
4. Drain it
Once your car has been raised for easier access, it’s time to get dirty. (But not too dirty if you use gloves and have old towels/rags at hand.
First, place a pan or container beneath the oil drain plug. Loosen its bolts with your standard wrench and remove the plug. *Keep your hands and other vitals out of the way of the oil stream – it will be hot and can scald you. Draining the oil should take no more than 10 minutes. Be sure to drain the oil completely.
5. Put the oil pan back on
After the oil has been fully drained, put the oil pan back on and secure it in place. Don’t forget this step, otherwise yo will have a huge mess to deal with later!
6. Locate and replace the oil filter
Now it is time to locate the oil filter. Once you have done this, loosen it using your oil-filter wrench, and remove it. *Be careful not to drip oil while removing it. Then, replace the old oil filter with the new one, using your hand to tighten it (a filter wrench can be too forceful, causing the filter to break). It is also a good idea to rub some clean oil on the new filter’s seal before installing it.
7. Add new oil
The final step in changing your car’s oil is to add new oil. To do this, pop your car’s hood and locate the oil cap. Once fond, remove the cap and pour in fresh oil. *Be sure you use the recommended weight and amount of oil for your specific car. Once finished, replace the oil cap. Let the oil settle, and after a few minutes, check the oil level via the oil dipstick to make sure the oil level falls between the Low and Full marks.
Now that you have successfully completed all of the steps above, your 2017 Buick Verano will continue to run smooth and efficient. To learn more about the 2017 Buick Verano, and for more automotive tips, visit our dealership in Harrisburg, PA.
2017 Buick Envision

SUVs used to be major gas guzzlers, making them more of a choice based on style than efficiency. But in recent years, auto makers have tried much harder to have their SUVs deliver better fuel economy – a serious win for SUV fans. One SUV that is a decent pick for fuel economy is Buick’s 2017 Envision. One problem many are facing right now, however, is a drop in fuel economy due to the winter season. Even the 2017 Envision that usually sees fairly decent marks in fuel economy can easily take a cold-weather fuel hit. But what exactly is the reason behind lower fuel economy during the winter months, and is there anything that can be done about it? Continue reading to learn more.
Why Fuel Economy Drops in Winter
First things first, why does fuel economy drop in winter? There’s no one reason why fuel economy drops in winter, instead, there are several. Some of them are:
Idling
In cold temperatures, many choose to let their engines idle so it can “warm up” before actually driving. Unfortunately, the only purpose idling your engine serves is to waste gas while simply sitting there. In truth, your car’s engine will warm up faster in cold weather if you go ahead and start driving as soon as you start the ignition.
Tire Pressure
You may not realize it, but tire pressure affects your fuel economy. Tires that are inflated properly will get much better fuel economy than tires that are under-inflated. Why exactly? When tires are under-inflated, too much of the tire’s surface touches the ground. As a result, they are harder to roll along the road. In order to make them roll, your engine has to use more energy. This cases more gas to be burned and fuel economy to drop. To get the most mpg, check your tire pressure regularly.
Higher Electrical Components
You may love all the extra electronics your car comes with – USB ports, Bluetooth, heated seats – but for every system you are using while on the road, your car’s electrical system is put into overdrive. In order to provide these accessories with the necessary power, your vehicle has to burn more fuel. As a result, your fuel economy takes a hit.
How to Improve Fuel Economy in Winter
Now that you know a few of the culprits for why your fuel economy decreases in winter, yo are probably wondering what, if anything, you can do about it. The best way to achieve better fuel economy in winter is by being more mindful of your driving habits. Here are some tips:
Speed Limit
Speeding is never a good idea. It’s dangerous for you and others, it can lead to expensive traffic tickets, and guess what, it can also lead to a drop in fuel economy. The faster you drive, the faster fuel is burned, so if you’re looking to increase fuel economy in winter, following the speed limit is your best bet.
Don’t Idle
As previously mentioned, letting your engine idle decreases fuel economy. Whether you’re waiting while the engine warms up before venturing on the road, are waiting in car line at your child’s school, or spending a few single minutes in a drive-thru line, all of these idling scenarios lead to a drop in fuel economy. The solution to this is to turn off your engine. Not only will fuel economy increase, but you’ll be doing mother nature a favor.
Combine Trips
Every time you start a cold engine, it burns fuel. This is why it’s a good idea to combine your trips so less fuel is burned. Running errands will allow your engine to remain warm as you drive from store to store, while separating your trips into different days can lead to more fuel burned and a drop in fuel economy.

Do you love convertibles? Then you may want to check out the latest top-down convertible, the Cascada. The Cascada hits the 2017 lineup with everything one could want in a convertible. It’s quiet, full of features and fun to drive. It also delivers the high level of comfort you’d expect in a Buick. But, as fun and worthwhile as the 2017 Buick Cascada is, when you opt for a new ride, you’ll need to provide it with routine maintenance. To keep your 2017 Cascada in top condition, here are some important maintenance checks to perform.
Check and Clean the Battery
The great thing about your car’s battery is that it requires very little maintenance. But even though you don’t have to worry about your car’s battery very often, you should still check it regularly to ensure it is in good working condition. This means knowing where your battery is located under your car’s hood, and also being able to check it for leaks, and cleaning it of any corrosion around its terminals. These tasks are a simple way to eliminate the risk of being stranded because of a dead battery.
Check Fluids
Just as your body needs fluids to work efficiently, your car also requires several fluids to keep it functioning properly. Some important fluids include: coolant/antifreeze, oil, windshield wiper fluid, and gasoline (unless you own an electric car that is). While it’s not completely necessary to learn how to change your car’s fluids, it is very important to know how to check its fluid levels. In some cases, like with the coolant level, you can visibly see the tank that holds the coolant, and can quickly see whether it reaches the full line. In other situations, however, you may need to rely on gauges and dipsticks to figure out if a specific fluid is in adequate supply. One example is the oil level, which will require you to check a dipstick. If while checking fluid levels you notice they are low, go ahead and replenish them with more of the appropriate fluid. Also, if you happen to spot, or suspect, a leak, never ignore it. Instead, get it checked by a professional as quickly as possible to avoid more serious problems.
Check and Change the Oil
As you probably already know, your car’s engine requires oil to function. Oil acts as a necessary lubricant inside the engine, drawing heat away from it so it won’t overheat, and also protecting its important parts so they run smooth and don’t become damaged. Checking your car’s oil level and also having the oil changed regularly, is one of the most important maintenance services you can do. While you can easily take your car somewhere to have the oil changed, checking the oil is definitely something you can do quickly and easily at home. Simply pull out the oil dipstick and check the level at the tip of the stick, comparing it to the low and full line notches provided. If the oil level is low, add more. You should also be aware of how the oil looks. If your oil looks muddy, or murky, this is a serious sign that an oil change is needed, or that your engine has already experienced some damage.

Top 5 Ways to Prep Your 2017 Buick Encore for Winter

When the winter season blows in frigid and cold, you probably stock your closet with cold-weather essentials, like coats, gloves, and boots. It’s this kind of preparation that makes it easier to get through those harsh winter months. Just as you prep yourself with layers of clothes, etc., your car also needs extra preparations to make it through the winter. Say you purchase the latest 2017 Buick Encore. With its quiet cabin, user-friendly technology and excellent crash-test scores, the Encore makes a pretty great compact SUV. Sure, it’s a brand-new car with mountains of things to offers, but in order to efficiently make it through the tough conditions of winter, it will need your help. Here are the top five ways to prep your 2017 Buick Encore for Winter.
Visit the Mechanic
Whether winter is about to arrive or is already in full gear, it is never too late to take steps to help your car make it through harsh conditions. A good way to do this is by taking it to a mechanic. While there, have them check the following: battery, antifreeze level, thermostat, heater, brakes and defroster. Bitter winter weather can negative affect all of these things, so it’s a good idea to ensure all of these parts are working as they should so you won’t face trouble while on the road.
Check Tires
Your car’s tires may not cross your mind too often, but when winter comes, they are a very serious component to on-road safety. Depending on where you live, winter roads can be wet, icy and snowy – all things that make driving very dangerous. Driving in winter conditions requires tires that are in good shape. They should be free of major wear and tear, and damage. They should also have good treads in order to provide adequate traction with the road. If your treads are worn, it is in your best interest to replace your tires. If you live in an area with snow, yo may even want to invest in snow tires, which have treads that are designed for better traction and are better able to handle extreme winter driving conditions.
Inspect Lights
Driving in winter can make it harder to see the road and other cars. Think about it, if it’s hard for you to see other cars, then it’s just as hard for them to see you. To ensure your car is as visible as possible in snow and other severe weather, make sure all of its lights are working as they should. This means checking headlights, taillights, brake lights, and especially your hazards.
Change Wipers and Fluid
Low winer temperatures mean frozen windshields. It may also mean frozen windshield wiper fluid. You may think wiper fluid is the least of your concerns, but think again. Visibility is key to successful, and safe, driving. In the unsafe conditions of winter where visibility is already compromised, a good pair of wiper blades and windshield wiper fluid can greatly increase your safety behind the wheel. One way to combat frozen windshield wiper fluid is by using non-freezing fluid. Specifically designed for spraying in freezing temperatures, this fluid won’t ever freeze up, leaving you with a constant supply of fluid – a major score for visibility.
Along with changing the wiper fluid to one that is winter-specific, you’ll also want to purchase winter wiper blades that are designed to cut through snow and ice. Another good thing to do is check the spray nozzles of your windshield-washer system, because they can sometimes become blocked. A needle or pin can be used to clear the blockage.
Clean the Exterior
To make winter roads less dangerous, they are typically salted or sanded. While this is great for safety, it can actually damage your car’s paint. To stop this from happening, you should rinse the exterior of your car (including the undercarriage). A rinse is good, but a full wash and coat of fresh wax is even better as it will help prevent corrosion and keep your car looking like new.
